Re: RedHat8
Also there is an Update feature under programs system tools that lets you connect to the Red Hat Network and download and install via rpm all the latest releases of products which is how Red Hat delivers bug fixes.
There should be an update icon on the lower right hand side of the screen in X Windows.

Re: RedHat8
Thanks, I did know about the online Reg option. I just thought, Like HPux, there was an accumulative patch bundle that may need to be applied. Im not sure why my telnet session through X may be slow. It is a bit slow, sometimes real bad. But going to the system console, it runs very fast. System monitor shows pleanty of resources. Is there a 'terminal services client for Linux. So I could be on the console from my desktop?

Re: RedHat8
I think it is really great! But I don't know if it will have some troubles like your telnet. Go for RH9!

Re: RedHat8
i dont think the problem is with the patch level.
can you see if you are running unwanted services and disable them. may be that frees out some more resources.
try out vnc for accessing the console. though i dont know when u need it. (except if ur machine is out of the network).
i manage most of my work using a ssh session.
