Reinstalling Proliant Support Pack after upgrading kernel...appear to be having issues...
We are currently running RedHat Enterprise Linux 4. Recently we upgraded to the latest kernel errata supported by the PSP 7.50: 2.6.9-22.ELsmp.
When looking at our grub.conf file we notice that when we first installed the PSP for the 2.6.9-5.ELsmp kernel that came with RHEL4 the PSP recompiled several kernels with storage drivers.
The problem is when we upgraded the kernel to 2.6.9-22.ELsmp, and then reran the PSP installer, it does not appear that it attempted to recompile the kernel with the storage drivers. In fact, it appeared to only attempt to install 9 components, when it installed 18 the first time it ran.
I figure maybe it requires a complete reinstall of the PSP to install properly, but I don't see anything in the PSP documentation that refers to how one goes about reinstalling the PSP.
If anyone has any insights into this, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Reinstalling Proliant Support Pack after upgrading kernel...appear to be having issues...
Something else interesting is that the first time I installed this PSP I got this message for the component in question:
Parsing of XML file for aic7xxx-6.3.11-3.rhel4.i686.rpm component
was SUCCESSFUL.
After we upgraded the kernel and went to reinstall the PSP we get this message for the component in question:
Parsing of XML file for aic7xxx-6.3.11-3.rhel4.i686.rpm component
was SUCCESSFUL.
Installation of this RPM component is NOT REQUIRED because the hardware is not present.
Installation of this component will not be attempted.
Not sure what is going on here...thanks

Re: Reinstalling Proliant Support Pack after upgrading kernel...appear to be having issues...
Shalom,
Recommendations:
1) Pull out all the support pack software and any kernels not specifically on the support matrix.
2) Reinstall previous support pack that exactly matches a supported kernel.

Re: Reinstalling Proliant Support Pack after upgrading kernel...appear to be having issues...
I don't suppose there is a way to run the script with an uninstaller switch or something? Or is it a matter of manually uninstalling all of the rpms installed?
I just spoke with an HP tech who suggested there may be issues with the installer and that manually installing the RPM for the affected driver should work, since the kernel version we are running is fully supported by the 7.5 PSP.
But, if I can easily uninstall the PSP and then reinstall I might make that my first step...otherwise I'll probably try for a manual install of the components it didn't install.
I'll reply with any updates as I can get them.
Thank you for your help.
