removing a bad disk from a volume group
I am facing a problem when removing a bad disk from vg01 without rebooting the server.
Server Model: RP 3440 (PA RISC)
please help me in this problem.....

Are you running Linux on your rp3440? (I think parisc-linux does not support rp34xx yet, but I might be wrong...)

Please tell us your OS version. If HP-UX, are you using 11.11, 11.23 or 11.31? If Linux, what's the name and version of your Linux distribution?
How is your vg01 set up? Please show us the output of "vgdisplay -v vg01" and "mount | grep vg01".
