Re: RHEL 3 to 5

Hi,

You don't want to do that.

Taken from Red Hat Knowledge Base article DOC-1537

"Red Hat does not support or recommend in place upgrades across major versions of Enterprise Linux."

Re: RHEL 3 to 5

Thanks Rob,

Well, I hear that RHEL 3 becomes EOL in October. What are my options?. These are some critical services hosted on these nodes. Any workaround ?

Re: RHEL 3 to 5

if it is a critical server, I think you better build RHEL5 on a new server. Many packages in RHEL 5 got major upgrade, such as MySQL, PHP... you have to test your apps b4 upgrade.

Re: RHEL 3 to 5

Hi,

If you've got critical services running on RHEL 3 then it should hopefully be no surprise to you that it reaches the end of its Life Cycle in October...

As regards migrating to a later release, that really depends on what those services are...

In hope of an official answer I would rather ask my local Red Hat sales support...
