RHEL 5.3 LVM boot issue

rebooted server and now boot says "couldn't find device with UUID...."

I boot to maintenance mode, pvdisplay, vgdisplay etc.. and both the disks are there with matching UUIDs of those complained about during boot.

I had rebooted yesterday with no issues. Devices are there and accessable.

any ideas ?

Re: RHEL 5.3 LVM boot issue

Do you use UUIDs in all your OS partitions?

Can you post your /etc/fstab please?

Also, what kind of server? Is it a Proliant with a SmartArray controller or do you boot from the SAN?

Cheers.

Re: RHEL 5.3 LVM boot issue

All storage is LVM.

this is actually running in OVM with file based backingstore, I have resolved the issue by changing the device type of the two disks in ths VM to hdX from sdX..

the oddity was that there have been no issues until now.

I will have to try and recreate in a test environment and get back to you when I can .

Thanks for the response..
