Samba authentication....

I'm running a samba server on an RHEL box, and am connecting to it via XP - and there is some confusion as to which username and password is being passed to the RHEL box (is it passing the windows username/pw?) - - - is there anything other than something like Ethereal that will allow me to see the outgoing (or incoming) try's for authentication?????

did you look at the samba logs /var/log/samba/* ?

I believe the authentication type all depends on how you configured samba..

man smb.conf for more details...
