Re: Sata Harddisk

Shalom Sudhakar,

I've got RH 4 ES working on systems with SATA hard disks. No issue except grub doesn't know how to write the PBA record to both disks in a mirror set.

Perhaps consider v4 which was created when SATA hard disks were widely marketed.

Re: Sata Harddisk

Sudhakar,

Yours is a very common problem and the way to fix it is:

When you install you should have a driver floppy supplied by the SATA manufacturer. Boot from your CD/DVD and type: linux dd
When prompted insert your driver floppy and identify your SATA hardware.

If the driver is accepted and correctly loaded you should be able to partition your hard disk, and if it is a RAID device, only see one drive and not two in your mirror etc.

Complete the install, and if applicable, halt at the "Congratulations.." screen and press Ctrl-Alt-F1 and then mount your driver floppy and run any Grub correction scripts, unmount and remove it. Press Ctrl-Alt-F7 to return to the graphical console and press enter to reboot.

I'm sorry I can't be more specific about the floppy scripts but these are individual to each manufacturer and SATA device.

sudhakar
plz give me system hard-ware details.
U can do one thing go to CMOS setting and change your enhanced setting PATA & SATA
(use PATA & S1-S3)
I think it will work.
