SCSI : Request Timeout Error
When I type "dmesg" command, it shows the following error.
"SCSI: Request Timeout; Abort -- lbolt: 264891442, dev: e7062000, io_id: 6000b41"
"dev: e7062000" represents StorageTEK robotic arm device file.
Although this error message shows up, the backup with Omniback II is completed successfully.
Can anyone help me solve this problem?

Re: SCSI : Request Timeout Error
Do the backups or robotics commands seem to take longer than they should? You could use the 'uma' command to control the robotics directly and see if response is as it should.
Also, do you see more than one of those errors, or just that one per backup?
Check your termination for that SCSI bus. Make sure you're using the right terminator and it's connected at the end of the chain.

Re: SCSI : Request Timeout Error
Eric, thank you for your reply.
I use "uma" command to check if there is any
delay to move tape into and out of tape drive.
It works fine.
Also, I have used SE terminator for robotic arm. This error has showed up recently.
It doesn't show up everyday. I can see six same error messages by typing "dmesg" command.
I have been running daily full-backup since last May, 2001.
Fortunately, there is no problem showing at Omnibackup II monitor.
Do you have any idea to solve this problem?

Re: SCSI : Request Timeout Error
OK.. I'll ask the standard help desk support question. Have you installed the latest OB 3.5 patches on your cell server and pushed out the updates to the clients?
I did see some references to SCSI timeouts and robotic devices in some of the patch messages for OB.
That'd be the first thing I'd try.
