server hangs anytime

hi to all,
i am facing a problem with linux FC3 with IBM server xseries-226 it hangs up anytime. may also hang 5 to 6 times in a day.
can any one tell me what can be the issue.

If you didn't change anything then I'd say that there are some hardware problems. I'd check memory chips.try to replace them and see if the problem remains...

I agree with Alexander, it seems hardware is causing hangup machine, do one thing reinsert memory or swap it. Might be it will work.

but i hv changed my RAM and still problem is there.
can trhere will be other solution
also when i am starting firefox in KDE and GNOME terminal its taking 94% cpu utilization

Possible cause could be the NIC as well, are you using broadcom modules, if not please use those.

Hi,

As hardware concern,check for the CPU cooling fan temperature & RPM.

Cooling is one of the main reason for hanging.

I think that may be a module that does not work correctly for your hardware, like disk/raid controller modules. Check /var/log/messages. I would suggest to configure a remote syslog server, I was able to find out in this way the cause of the hang. Also, configure the magic sysrq key. Try updating your kernel.
