ServiceGuard without Lock LUN or Quorum Server

Hi,

Is it possible to create a ServiceGuard cluster without Lock LUN or Quorum Server ?
I would say no.
I'm asking this because I don't have any centralised storage for my servers.
I just need to know if it's possible to configure a ServiceGuard cluster between 2 Proliant DL380 / Linux Redhat 3 AS with no centralised storage, MSA or other.

I will agree with you. Shared storage is required and there needs to be a means of resolving conflict in the case of lost heartbeat.

Technically its called a cluster lock disk, but either way you need one or the other.

Well if you create a single node cluster you do not need these. A two node cluster MUST have one or the other, and a 3 node cluster it is optional.

Also remember two other things that should be highlighted in the white paper Melvyn pointed to:

1. The QS can run on any HP hardware that support Linux or HP-UX. A QS can support up to 100 total nodes or up to 50 clusters. I'm sure this last part doesn't help, but maybe the flexibility of the first part does.

2. A common misconception is that if the QS fails the cluster fails. This is not the case. In the case of a 2 node cluster the QS is used ONLY when hearbeats are lost.
