Hello,
I'm trying to install Linux on a DL380 G4 server but the only options in assisted setup are for novell and windows.
I've tried version 7.6 and 7.4
Could you please help by telling me the proper way to do the installation?
thanks

Solution
Shalom,
1) If you don't mind RAID 1 you don't need to do smartstart on this system. You can do disk preparation with this disk, e.g. change the raid configuration and such and then boot off your Linux CD/DVD next. The menu system is confusing but this disk does support Linux.

Re: SmartStart And Linux
Gday,
We use 380's all the time. I have been using 7.30 for sometime without problems I believe 7.40 or is it 7.50 has some problems.
Anyway the days where one configured the server for Windows/Linux etc is long gone. Just stick the cd in boot off it and run the Array Config Utility, setup you RAID and then if you wish create partitions and thus LUNS. Reboot the server and insert the Linux boot cd.
If you have iLO license then you can use images and virtual cds which makes life a lot easier!
Robert.
