SUSE Enterprise Linux SP2
I have SUSE Enterprise Linux 9.0 installed on HP DL380 Server.
I need to install SUSE Enterprise Linux 9.0 SP2 on the above server.
I would like to know how should I go about it.
Shall I update the server using Yast online update or do I need to install SUSE EL SP2 OS completely...
Please help.
Thanks in advance for the response.

Re: SUSE Enterprise Linux SP2
I believe I read there is an update option. You may have issues with applications you installed onto the system in this mode.
I am reasonably sure the Yast tool will let you do the upgrade. My Suse mates in ITRC say great things about yast, its a lot like yum, which can do such things.

Re: SUSE Enterprise Linux SP2
Remember to also update your firmware on the server to the latest version, just to avoid any discrepancies.

Re: SUSE Enterprise Linux SP2
If you have physical media of SP2, you can also simply reboot on CD-ROM and choose upgrade option. However, be warned about one annoying issue : some IDE cdroms are very very slow on Linux.
Good lcuk.

Re: SUSE Enterprise Linux SP2
If is fresh install, I suggest install SUSE EL SP2 OS completely. If is existing sever with Suse Linux installed, Yast Online is the tool you should use.
