Suse, Mandrake and HP E800
I'm trying to install Suse 6.3 on a Netserver E800. The installation process fails when i try to make any partitions. It says that i cannot find any valid storage media. It seems that i need some additional drivers for the SCSI or NetRaid controller.
SCSI storage controller: NCR 53c896 => device busy
I tried to install mandrake 8.1, but after reboot, linux can't find the kernel !!!
Please help me !

Re: Suse, Mandrake and HP E800
Is it really the 6.3 versions of SuSE ?
I'd sugest to get the 7.3.
For SuSE you've got a good mailing list, just see on their web site.
They also got FAQ Archive and Hardware compatibility.

Michael was having some difficulty getting his scsi controllers to load in the correct order -- if the scsi drivers aren't loading, or are loading in the wrong order, then either the drives will be not found, or will have the wrong designations. Whichever scsi board loads first gets to own sda, subsequent calls get later drive numbers.
