Re: Time Settings in Linux Domain
chkconfig -level 12345 ntpd on
On a server
find an outside ntp time source
open up port 110 on the firewall
edit /etc/ntp.conf
put the time source in there.
service ntpd start
On the clients:
chkconfig -level 12345 ntpd on
set the servers ip as the source in /etc/ntp.conf
service ntpd start
Done. It may take a few hours for the times to come in synch
Test with
ntpq -p
on each node.

Re: Time Settings in Linux Domain
To set up client time you have 2 choiches:
1) ntpdate:
it's a mere command which you have to issue (you can put in cron if machine is always on or put once at boot if machine should be shut down daily): basic syntax is
#ntpdate servername
where servername is the name of an ntp server (search on google pls)
2) ntpd:
make your machine a ntp server which uses other servers to set up its hour.
it's a bit more work. You can read
#man ntp.conf
which is config files.
Using KDE you can configure it interactively clichking on clock and giving root passwd.
Dushyant, from your profile I see that you never assigned points to the answers you've been given. Pls. do it: it's needed to stimulate people to answer...
Peace, R.
