trouble ticket system running on linux

Hello all, does anyone know of a free open source trouble ticket system that runs on Linux. We had service center but we are gtting away from that. We would like to try something running on LInux and possibly something free. Any sugestions and or ideas will be appreciated.

I did a search on google for "trouble ticket tracking system + linux"

Lots of hits came up. Did not fully investigate but I did see some "free" in the pages.

I've used Request Tracker before and loved it.

Its web based and perl so you can easily extend it if you need to.

http://www.bestpractical.com/rt/

They also have a bunch of tools that plug in to rt for report gathering and automatically generating FAQ's based on the most popular tickets.

Pretty easy to use.

Re: trouble ticket system running on linux

Hi,

there are many Open Source trouble ticketing packages, enough to enable you to pick one you feel is right for your needs. Range is from very simple to very sophisticated.

To name a few:

Mantis, simple and intuitive, at http://www.mantisbt.org/

BugZilla is at http://www.bugzilla.org/
the 'Who Uses It' list is quite impressive, listing over 400 companies, such as NASA, AMD, RedHat, Netscape...

actually, take a look at http://linas.org/linux/pm.html
there is quite a list of Call Center, Bug Tracking and Project management tools for Linux, both free and commercial

hope that helps,

Power to you for loosing ServiceCenter. Wish I could as well.

It seems these days everyone are raving over Atlassian JIRA. Atlassian JIRA is not free for commercial users, but still cheap compared to servicecenter. However they are paying their deuce to the community by offering the software for free to open source projects. Amongst others, it seems the JBoss project are using JIRA.

There is a free download to try out. http://www.atlassian.com/

If you are using ServiceCenter today, I assume you are a relative large commercial company, really dependent and serious about choosing your tracking system. If this is so, I'd give it a go and also have a peak at the integration possibilities with JIRA.
