Upgrade from SUSE Linux 8 w/sp3 to Linux 9 w/sp3

Does any body know if I can do an upgrade from SUSE Linux 8 w/sp3 to SUSE Linux 9 w/sp3 or do I have to do a cold install?

Shalom,

I believe an upgrade package was provided. As an RHCE, I'm hardly an expert here.

What I do know is that upgrade often breaks third party applications that people have running.
