user can not login from the console

Hi all,

we are using nis and NFS in our system.

I recently create an user account. and it can not login into linux box even from the console.

The user's home is in hp11.0, the machine he try to log in is linux redhat OS. Any idea for debugging?

Thanks.

NIS: Have you run yppush from the Master NIS server?

Was the user added to the Master NIS server?

Has this setup been tested? If its worked before what has been done differently?

Re: user can not login from the console

Hi,
the user's was in the NIS master. no problem to login any hp or sun in the NIS domain.

The user can rlogin the linux and get the prompt back, doing a pwd and we can see it is in his home dir.

I suspect the problem resides in the hp box where his home is.

I created another account for him and put his home in a different box. He can login the linux box through console windown.

Re: user can not login from the console

Hi,

I think the problem is with the hpux box. any account created whith this box holding user's dir have problem.

I installed OS 11.0 and patches on it. Did I miss anything?

Re: user can not login from the console

Do You provide a shadow passwd map from your NIS server?

If Your client machine is using shadow passwds you will need to build a map in nis
