Re: user/group quotas

Didn't mean to post that...

Okay, I'm trying setup quotas for groups of users. I want to have different amounts of disk space available to users according to what plan they sign up for. But I want to do this hopefully without having to assign the same values to each individual user.
How can I do this?
Quotas are enabled and working for both users and groups.
I've tried setting a block limit for a group and adding a user to that group, but that doesn't seem to keep them from filling up disk space. I've tried making this group the users initial group as well as just an additional group. But no settings that I set in group quotas seem to have any effect on the users in that group. Any suggestions?
Thanks...

Re: user/group quotas

I have already rebooted in order to remount the file system, to get the quotas working.
I don't think that's the problem.
I am able to control a users quotas effectively using individual user quotas.
But how do group quotas work?

Re: user/group quotas

It worked for me- just like you I assigned the quota for user and it worked fine-and the quota I assigned to groups didn't work.
So after trying to solve this for about weeks- this one time after assigning quota to a group and adding members to it (of course I tried if the quota works immediately-it didn't), so I rebooted the pc. Finally after reboot -it worked just fine. So I suggest you to reboot after you put all the necessary members to a group and assigning quota to that group.
