Using a HP DeskJet in Linux
Been busy installing Debian GNU/Linux on my HP Vectra. Got it working alright. Need to start printing some stuff with my HP DeskJet 660C. It responded to 'lpr' with only one line printed. I need the right printcap file, right?
If so, where can I download it? If not, what's the correct way to go about it?
Cheers

Re: Using a HP DeskJet in Linux
The strange thing is that kudzu should have picked that printer right up and configured it correctly without any additional steps. Was it working right before the Linux install?
Seems Linux drivers aren't on the HP web site. Quite strange.

Re: Using a HP DeskJet in Linux
As far as I know, kudzu is used only in Red Hat distros.
I don't use Debian, however I suggest you have a look at :
http://www.linuxprinting.org
Do you know about CUPS ? This is an e-x-c-e-l-l-e-n-t printing system that you should have a look at. I guess it is available in standard Debian packages. In that case install CUPS, download the relevant foomatic printing script and the dj 660 driver at www.linuxprinting.org.
For CUPS admin/printer setup, use your web browser :
http://localhost:631
Good luck.

Re: Using a HP DeskJet in Linux
If you have installed cups on your Linux system you can get a driver from this site.
