wlan drivers

god, I'm lost. I have an HP Pavilion zv5200 with an integrated 54g wireless nic. My problem is that I can't seem to find instructions on how to get that particular driver (bcmwl5.sys?) for a linux distro.
Areas of concern:
[1] does it matter what linux OS I use?
[2] can I download the driver (once I find the right one) to a windows partition, then mount it using linux. <- to save using a cdrom.

I've been reading and googling about this for sometime, and although I am learning alot regarding the use of linux, I have not yet been able to get online with it. Please, if you have any suggestions, be descriptive, as I'm a bit confused @ this point =)

Re: wlan drivers

Not sure how much help I can be, but FWIW...

I am dual-booting RHEL WS4 and XP Pro. I too am having Wireless issues, but other than that RHEL was no problem.

In general, Linux can read an NTFS partition, but most distros discourage or prohibit writing (because of reliability/corruption issues). I have had mixed results on previous sytems. At times, it was easier to use a USB jump drive to move files between systems.

Good Luck!
