X window manager

Hi all:

Working with FC3.

When I connect remotely through VPN I get the TWM desktop. Iwould prefer the GNOME desktop. This is the desktop I get while working on the system locally.

How can I change the desktop for remote VPN connections?

Many thanks

which vpn connection you are using? May be the VPN server is deciding on which desktop to be showed over the network for performance consideration. Check the VPN server settings for changing the desktop environment.

Re: X window manager

Interesting, try using the switchdesk command when you connect via VPN.

Re: X window manager

Found it.

Using RealVNC. In the $HOME directory of the user that started VNC is a directory called .vnc

Within this directory is a file called xstart. View this file and make the necessary changes.

There were no options with the VNC application to choose a desktop nor would the switch desktop command work.

Many thanks!
