dvd reconizing disk

I have a combo cd-dvd drive on my computer that will not reconize that there is a disk in the drive bay.It says that there is no disk in the drive.Can someone please help me this?Thank yoou in invance,Marvin

A very common problem.

Either your cd-dvd drive or your cdrom is bad.
Check it with some other drive.
If it still doesn't open then most probably the cdrom is bad.
