I have lost the specific icons in the IE favourites list and only have the big blue e's. Is there a way to get the specific icons back again?

Solution
It appears these are stored in the Temporary Internet Files and if you clear them (Tools/Internet Options/Delete Files) or reduce the memory (Tools/Internet Options/ Settings) then they go away forever. The only way I've found to make them come back is to go to click on the favorite then when you get to the page, Favorites / Add to Favorites and overwrite the old entry.
To check that there is not something else wrong, try adding the following page to your favorites. Should make a Purple P.

Re: IE favourites icons
It sounds like the web sites favicon.ico got removed when the cookies/temp files were cleared. You will need to remove and set up the favorite again. See http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,9883,00.asp
