Look for software from the NIC company, like Compaq, 3com, or even HP/Compaq. Check the NIC properties as well.

The only file I can find is the driver file CPQTEAM.SYS. It seems a bit drastic to just rename this file and reboot. There is nothing else obvious and nothing on the NIC properties themselves.

Try to run the Compaq Network Teaming and Configuration Utility (CPQNTAC for Microsoft Windows NT or CPQTEAM for Microsoft Windows 2000) from a command window. I think that should let you unteam gracefully.
There is a new version out:
http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/10381.html
If all else fails you may have to run the Compaq Smart Start Utility which I understand installs the sw in the first place.
