PCL XL error when printing across network

Usin HP Laserjet 4000 printers with HP JetDirect cards installed, I have 2 different printers that are intermittently printing a page reporting
PCL XL error
Subsystem KERNEL
Error UnsupportedBinding
Operator 0x0
Position 0

This has occurred printing from Word and a proprietary hospital coding software. One printer is accessed through a print server, while the other is accessed by direct IP address.

One of the PCs this has been produced from is running Windows NT 4.0 (WS) while the other is using Windows 2000 Professional

Re: PCL XL error when printing across network

None of these helped at all. I have a HP4000T that either the PCL5e or PCL6 driver won't work on properly. The PCL6 driver just gives a PCL XL error and the PCL5e driver prints garbage characters.

Sometimes its the printer guys that know all about these issues and thus you both might find that the specialist forum for laserjets will be able to give you some solutions to your problem. Here is the link
