SolutionI take it you're asking for different remote control software, not only which VNC version is best.
I've used a few.
pcAnywhere http://www.symantec.com/norton/symantec-pcanywhere
VNC http://www.realvnc.com/
MS SMS remote control
NetOp http://www3.netop.com/netop-1.htm
There are others like Dameware.
First of all.
I'm no expert here. But I can give you my impressions as a user.
I would take into account these features:
Security
Deployment / usability
Clipboard and file transfers.
Screenshots
From a security perspective these are mostly regarded as approved in multinational corporates:
Microsoft RDP. in all corporates I know.
VNC and pcAnywhere in some corporates I know.
I currently use a utility called pushVNC that check if service already exists. If it doesn't, it copies files and necessary registry key to create the service, and then the service is started and the remote control application (VNCviewer) is launched. When you're done, it allows you to remove the service.
I have attached a file that shows the GUI.
I know these allow for clipboard transfers(NetOp, pcAnywhere, VNC).
I recall this allow for file transfers: pcAnywhere. I can't see the option for file transfer in NetOp
Screenshots : pcAnywhere. I've tried with VNC and NetOp and haven't found a way to do this.
Hope it helps.
Edgar.

The best experiences I've had is TightVNC:
