Alpha zip3/unzip .exe availability ?

Are these executables rather than the kits available for VMS 7.3-2 ?

I meant zip 3 and unzip 6.

Re: Alpha zip3/unzip .exe availability ?

Thomas,
Although the "official" page of Info-Zip mentions Zip 2.32 and Unzip 5.52 as latest versions, there was a thread in this forum discussing a few beta-releases.
See:

Re: Alpha zip3/unzip .exe availability ?

I'll assume that the downloads from my server
to some some telstra.com.au address mean that
you found something suitable. Otherwise,
feel free to complain directly.

Note that the next Zip BETA, 3.0f, is getting
close, and UnZip 6.00d may be getting close,
and there's actually some hope that the real
3.0/6.00 release may happen in our lifetimes.
Watch this space.

And be sure to ignore that spurious "76
bytes" warning message which UnZip 6.00c
emits in some cases.

Re: Alpha zip3/unzip .exe availability ?

In addition to the master Info-Zip web site...

Back when I was dealing with the Freeware, I made sure all the core tools shipped out with the latest bits, and they shipped pre-built.

The Freeware distro 000TOOLS directory was the traditional area for these pre-built core tools, and the various tools that are located in that directory (at least up three Freeware V8.0) were deliberately built to allow correct operations across a broad range of releases.

The Freeware FTP server is at: http://www.hp.com/go/openvms/freeware

This in addition to the Freeware disks that shipped with the OpenVMS kits.

The OpenVMS Frequently Asked Question (FAQ) itself also has a directory of software packages, including sources of zip and unzip. http://www.hoffmanlabs.com/vmsfaq/ is the master site.
