AlphaStation XP900

I read that it is more or less a DS10. I need to find out what minimum version of OpenVMS is supported, such as 7.0 or 7.1 or a special version like "7.1 1H1".

Re: AlphaStation XP900

The answer is on the support chart, at

http://h71000.www7.hp.com/openvms/supportchart.html

It seems to be minimum Vms 7.1-2 and all the latest patches.

Re: AlphaStation XP900

The AlphaStation XP900 has been renamed to the AlphaStation DS10. Note that the AlphaStation DS10 is not the same as an AlphaServer DS10 with a graphics card. AlphaStations have different software licenses than AlphaServers even if the base hardware is the same.

Re: AlphaStation XP900

Thanks. I have 3 AlphaServer 2100's and 1 4100. All the rest of my Alpha's are Stations, about 24 of them. I have been thinking of upgrading a few of them because I could benefit from the speed as well as the extra PCI slots. My next step was to check on the licensing. Hopefully it's the same level as my other stations.

Here's the output of SHOW LICENSE/UNIT on an XP900 (may be wrapped):

$ show lic/unit

This is a COMPAQ AlphaStation XP900 466 MHz, hardware model type 1879

Type: B, * Not Permitted * (VAX/VMS F&A Server)
Type: C, * Not Permitted * (VAX/VMS Concurrent User)
Type: D, * Not Permitted * (VAX/VMS Workstation)

Type: I, Units Required: 1050 (Layered Products)

Remember that your BASE OS license (OPENVMS-ALPHA) comes with the box.

Your interactive user licenses can be moved from system to system, but only used on one system at a time. If you have a choice, purchase OPENVMS-ALPHA-ADL as they're architecture independent and shareable.
