Clearvisn

Is there any successor of Clearvisn ? (context of monitoring a hub900 multiswitch)

If possible running on VMS or XP.

Re: Clearvisn

Switches are cheap(er). Here are some of the ones available from DNPG, the organization that is the direct descendant of the DIGITAL Network Products Group that built the DEChub 900 series.

http://www.dnpg.com/ethernet_switching.asp

Low-end managed switches can now be had for as little as several hundred dollars US$, and from various vendors. Sometimes less. These low-end switches are typically equivalent or more capable than the DEChub 900 series.

Or you can contact DNPG at 1-877-341-9594 or (as you're not in the US) +1-603-216-6064, and ask about upgrades for ClearVISN. (I don't know of any.) The DNPG Alpine or Compass series look to be the replacements for the DEChub 900. And as this is an HP forum, I'll here include a reference to the HP ProCurve series: http://www.procurve.com

Re: Clearvisn

Hi Wim,

Last known was ClearVisn V3.1

You need the MultiSwitch manager component to configure the backplane of the DEChub900.

The earlier ClearVisn kits do most stuff except the later VNswitch 900CC 100Mbit/sec devices. You need the later ClearVisn V3 / V3.1 to set up the 100Mbit/sec pipes across the backplane.

If it's just monitoring you want then grab the MIBs (publically available) and stick them in a decent MIB browser. It should (probably) work OK.

Cheers, Colin (www.xdelta.co.uk).

Re: Clearvisn

Wim, FWIW, looked 2+ yrs ago and found nothing. We had V3.0 (note on a W2KPro box, not XP) to support the above and a GIGAswitch (all gone now!)

The DNPG were helpful in updating our s/w.

Re: Clearvisn

ClearVISN works on WinXP, though it does give an error on install, IIRC. I seem to recall them warning me a many years back (we had MultiSwitch900, GIGASwitches, FDDI, etc.) that it wouldn't work. But I always was able to install and use it. It has also worked OK on Win2003 Server.

I do believe the last version was v3.1. They had a "web" version, but I never used that one.

Retired all hardware a while back to just DS900TM stand-alone now and switched to using Access Server Manager and simple Telnet.
