Re: CSWB startup problems
Does anybody know how I can take a file in VMS and "set it's directory bit" using DCL? :-)
How about:
$ CRE/DIR filename.dir
$ RENAME filename.dir desired-filename.name
There is SET FILE/NODIRECTORY, but no SET FILE/DIRECTORY command.
Volker.

Re: CSWB startup problems
Thanks, but
cre/dir xul.masfl
%CREATE-E-DIRNOTCRE, xul.masfl directory file not created
-LIB-F-INVFILSPE, invalid file specification
and
cre/dir [xul.mfasl]
of course creates an xul directory under the MFD, and a MFASL directory under [xul]
:-)

Re: CSWB startup problems
create/dir [xul_mfasl]
and then renaming it to
USER2:[brad._MOZILLA.DEFAULT.MR4DUZ81_SLT]xul.mfasl;
which did indeed create a file with the directory bit set; alas, Mozilla deleted it on the next start-up!

Re: CSWB startup problems
No, not from DCL. But here's some C code some programmer I know wrote up almost twenty years ago...

<<<
DFU has this functionality:
DFU
SET
/DIRECTORY
/DIRECTORY
/NODIRECTORY
Sets or resets the directory attribute of a file. This qualifier allows to set the directory bit of a file which was mistakingly reset by the 'SET FILE/NODIRECTORY' command. If it is done on a non-directory file, then access to that directory will give a 'BADIRECTORY' error.

Martin

Re: CSWB startup problems
We will look into your issue. In the mean time, we need some log information from you. Please perform the following:
- Log on to OpenVMS system
- before you launch @mozilla.com, define these logicals for logging
$ define VMS_TRACE_FILENAMES 1
$ define VMS_FILE_OPEN_TRACE 1
$ define NSPR_LOG_MODULES "all:5"
$ define NSPR_LOG_FILE trace.txt
- deassign above logicals
- put the log file some place (for e.g. ftp location)where we can take it as it is going to be large in size
(Note: If you see any issues, define only NSPR_LOG_MODULES and NSPR_LOG_FILE logicals)
As you might know, the installation mentions that CSWB V1.7-13 is not tested against TCPWare. The excerpt of the guide is given below.
"HP has not formally tested and verified other TCP/IP network products, including the following TCP/IP network
products from Process Software Corporation:
TCPware Version 5.6
MultiNet Version 4.4
"
Also, enabling IPv6 may cause frequent hangs. Please refer the installation guide. Excerpt from the guide is given below.
"Enabling IPv6 support may cause you to experience excessive GENERIC_POLL
messages and frequent hangs"
Have you tried using TCP/IP services?

Re: CSWB startup problems
Thanks for the response.
I've created the trace.txt; is there someplace that I can FTP the file? I do not allow anonymous FTP access to my site.
I'm using TCPware, but as you can see by this thread, there are many folks using TCPware without issue.
I'm going to try attaching the file, since I notice that the trace size is less than the maximum.

Re: CSWB startup problems
Good morning!!!
Thanks for your repsonse. We configured TCPWare V5.7-2 and tried bringing up browser. As other participants mentioned in this mail thread, it is working fine for us. It looks like there is a configuration issue with your system. By any chance, did you try installing CSWB V1.7-13 on another OpenVMS system?
We are analysing the trace file that with ours. Our initial analysis revealed that the trace is not giving much information. Can you please send the screen output. You would get lot of messages on the screen (vms jackets related). So, define logicals as mentioned in my previous reply and then do $define sys$output swb_screenoutput.txt. Once it is done, launch @sys$common:[cswb]mozilla. After that deassign logicals that you have set.
Based on your previous replies, I think you are not using any IPV6. confirm?
We have the following products installed on your test system through PCSI utility.
$ prod show history/ful
