DECWindows does not start

I have a problem very similar logged with support. I updated an AlphaServer 2000 with OpenVMS v7.3-1 last weekend with the GRAPHICS v4 update and DECW now fails to start, though with a different error than reported above.

Support has said they have had these before. Since I already had Update v5 installed, I skipped v6 (as per the docs). Support had me install Update v6 and then Graphics v4, again. But that did not help.

In my case, the DECW$Server_0_Error.log file reports it can't activate DECW$SVEXT_MULTI_BUFFERING and DECW$SERVER_DDX_GY. Support suggested they have seen these problems with sites running Multinet, but I have just "UCX". Pure HP/DEC on this box.

I did not seem to see a good outcome for the original thread author. I am not excited about re-instaling DECW or OpenVMS!

Though I was thinking about topping off to v7.3-2, maybe this is the final excuse... :(

Anyone else with these "error activating" errors?

Please post the exact error text from DECW$SERVER_0_ERROR.LOG.
