Device Drivers for DAT tape drives.
I am using VMS 6.1 on a Microvax 3100-40. I use a DDS1 tape drive. I have a DDS2 and a DDS3 tape drive but VMS 6.1 will only show them a genitic tape drives and will not backup to them. VMS 6 recognises them and will backup to them. What driver files do I need to copy from VMS 6 to make thes drives work on 6.1. Is there any other way around this promlem.

Re: Device Drivers for DAT tape drives.
Actual output from SHOW DEVICE /FULL and the
actual error message from BACKUP would be
more helpful than "will not backup".
The SCSI tape driver is most likely MKDRIVER,
but copying it from a different VMS version
is not certain to work. And it's not yet
clear that the driver has anything to do with
the problem.
VMS V6.0 on the same system, or VMS V6.0 on a
different system?

Re: Device Drivers for DAT tape drives.
VMS 6.1 does support only DDS-1 and DDS-2 tape drives:
- TLZ04, TLZ06 and TLZ07,
but no DDS-3 drives.
If you need DDS-3 tape drives, then the answer is VMS 7.x
