Domain change

Hi,
We have just changed our domain on one of our VMS systems which seemed to have worked ok.

That was until we ran a show hosts in TCPIP.
Now the hosts database has an entry for every device in the domain.

We think it may be something to do with the bind server?
Does anyone know how or why this has happenend??

Re: Domain change

Did You change the server when You changed the domain ?
In the environment I'm working, the name server (not VMS) since ever returned the whole list of names for a TCPIP SHOW HOST with empty host name.

Do You have a problem with this behaviour ?

Re: Domain change

We think it may be realted to the DNS server now.
As we changed domain we also changed our DNS server which we think may be sending back the whole list!

Re: Domain change

Isallas,

in the DNS server you can (have your DNS-manager)either ENABLE or DISABLE ZONE_TRANSFER. This defines whether you see entries in other zone(s)

But if you moved your VMS into the same as where all those devices are in, you will get them anyway...

Proost.

Have one on me.
