E-mail connection refused

I'm trying to setup e-mail configuration on OpenView Service desk. Whenever I try to send a test e-mail, it gives me an error saying connection refused. I activated the SMPT on port 25 in the server editor, filled out the email configurations through system panel, and made sure that the port is open on ASI.

Any suggestion?

Re: E-mail connection refused

Mohammed,
Welcome to the OpenVMS forum (as someone in this forum put it: "God's own OS").
I guess you'd better redirect your question to an OpenView forum.

Re: E-mail connection refused

But you can always try
telnet mailserver/port=25

If it doesn't react, the connection is refused by firewall or mail server settings.

Re: E-mail connection refused

I already tried that and it is unable to connect to the port. I only have ISA installed and port 25 is open. the server configurations are all set and i'm able to send and recieve e-mails. Yet, the SD is unable to establish a connection with the server.

Re: E-mail connection refused

If the telnet directsly answers with "refused" then the node answered. May be the mail is on another port (try it on the working machine too). If it doesn't react (and retries the connection) until a timeout, then the service is configured for certain nodes only OR the node is unreachable(is it pingable ?).
