Fuse problem?

Some historic information:

1) I had problem to connect to Alphaserver 1000A through console and ethwernet port. I tried everything without results. I also tried solutions given to me through the VMS forum, without results.
2) I power off/on the power supply. This time the information on the LCD display disappeared. but the LED and fan run without problems
3) At end I tried to remove the Alphaserver from the rack. When I now power on the computer, it looks like that the computer have no power. So my problem this time is to find the fuse. Maybe that's the reason this time.

So if someone have good ideas I look forward to hear about them. I have no more ideas.

Re: Fuse problem?

geir,
1) I don't know whether the Alphaserver 1000A has a fuse.
2) If the LCD lights come on and then go off, the power supply may be unstable. This would cause the server to shutdown.
3) If the cover is not engaging the interlock switch or loses connection, this would shut down the server. We once had a bent interconnect switch which gave us problems.

Re: Fuse problem?

The interlock switch which detects that the top is on can be troublesome on AS1000A. If you take the lid off then its in the middle of the top and is normally activitted by a part of the lid that presses down on it.

Re: Fuse problem?

I've have previously used a bic pen top to hold the switch pressed down when looking at AS1000A with the lid off.

Re: Fuse problem?

A piece of paper, folded a few times, does a fantastic job, too.
