Itanium NIC speed settings
Hi,
We have just received a couple of Itanium systems (rx3600) to use during our porting from Alphas. Obviously the console is quite different. Is there any documentation on the Itanium console/EFI ?
What I'm really after is the ability to set the speed/duplex parameters of certain NICs from the console ?
Also, the systems have a single dual GBit card and a further 3, 4 port GBit NICs. All the NICs come up as EIn0 devices. What is the mapping from slot/NIC to EIn0 device ?
Regards,
Steve

Re: Itanium NIC speed settings
For an intro to the Integrity System console See app B of
http://h71000.www7.hp.com/doc/83final/ba322_90045/index.html
IIRC you can't change the speed settings from the console. Once VMS is running the LANCP utility can be used (DEVICE DEVICE/SPEED).

Re: Itanium NIC speed settings
But you really do NOT want to set a fixed speed on a Gigabit capable NIC card.
I was all for nailing down those old DE500's and the likes to make everything more stable / predictable. But for GbE you really want to allow the protocols to do its thing.
fwiw,
Hein.
