OpenVMS 7.2-1 Alpha

I have a TLZ10 tape drive in an AlphaServer 1200. I need to enable the DDS2 density when I do a backup. When I initialize the tape drive
init mka500: test /media=compact/density=dds2
It always shows the tape density as DDS1. The jumpers are all set to default except for the SCSI ID. The tapes are Maxell HS-4/90s labeled as 2.0GB or 4.0GB What am I missing?

On the Maxell site it appears to indicate that the HS-4/90 is a DDS (ie, DDS1) density tape.

The HS-2/120 is their DDS2 tape.

So you know you need the 120m tape then.

Yes, I now realize, the tapes I was attempting to use were not DDS-2 compatible.
