OpenVMS Cluster Time Synchronization

There are two nodes A and B forming a Cluster. I found there are time difference between two nodes, How about the NTP services and how to do?

NTP can be enabled using the TCPIP$CONFIG procedure from SYS$MANAGER.
The time servers are configured in TCPIP$NTP.CONF found under the home-dir of the
TCPIP$NTP user. A .TEMPLATE is available.
More info can surely by found in the fine documentation...

We enabled NTP on one node in the cluster and do a regular SET TIME/CLUSTER to synchronize.

Of course you can enable NTP on every cluster node. Our clusters normally consist of a 'big' Alpha-node and smaller VAX nodes, so we use NTP only on the big node to minimize CPU/network load.

I use NTP on each node. Generally one node in the lan polls external time servers and everything else uses that node as a time source.

The sample TCPIP$NTP.CONF has an example of how to configure a node in your cluster as secondary time source, in the event external time signals are lost.
