Problem with TDC V2.2
I have just down loaded the latest kit for TDC (the Alpha version), but when I try to run the self extracting EXE file it gives an access violation.
Why do they supply an EXE for Alpha and a PCSI$COMPRESSED for IA64?
Regards,
Bart Zorn

Re: Problem with TDC V2.2
I have successfully downloaded HP-VMS-TDC-V0202-108-1.exe, copied it to our OpenVMS Alpha V8.2 system via binary FTP and run that image on the Alpha. It successfully expands to HP-VMS-TDC-V0202-108-1.PCSI
So the image at the HP TDC V2.2 site seems to be o.k.
Volker.

Re: Problem with TDC V2.2
Thank you for your response.
I download directly to a DS15 running V8.2 using SWB (Mozilla). The resulting image has, according to ANAL/IMAGE no problems.
Maybe our friendly Proxy does something with it. It is after all an .EXE file and you must distrust those. Another reason to use PCSI$COMPRESSED !
I will try again tonight with my home internet connection.

Bart

Re: Problem with TDC V2.2
I have just used CSWB 1.7-13 to download directly onto a DS10 VMS 7.3-2(behind a corporate firewall) - and the file expanded correctly.

Re: Problem with TDC V2.2
I have just downloaded CSWB-OPENVMS-ALPHA-V1713.SFX_AXPEXE and when I run that I get:
%DCL-W-ACTIMAGE, error activating image CSWB-OPENVMS-ALPHA-V1713.SFX_AXPEXE;1
-CLI-E-IMGNAME, image file DSA2:[USERS.][BART]CSWB-OPENVMS-ALPHA-V1713.SFX_AXPEXE;1
-IMGACT-F-BAD_FIXUPVEC, the fixup vector contains inconsistent data
I will try that one also from my home connection.

Re: Problem with TDC V2.2
%PCSI-E-READERR, error reading DSA2:[USERS.][BART]HP-VMS-TDC-V0202-108-1.PCSI$COMPRESSED;1
-DCX-E-INVDATA, invalid data presented for expansion or bounded compression
%PCSI-E-S_OPFAIL, operation failed
%PCSI-E-S_OPFAIL, operation failed
%PCSIUI-E-ABORT, operation terminated due to an unrecoverable error condition
There must be something wrong with our firewall/proxy.
I will let you know what the results are from my home connection.

Re: Problem with TDC V2.2
Problems should, in general, be reported however you normally report software problems. In this particular case, I'm not sure that the support center would have been able to provide much help.
With respect to the issue with the .PCSI$COMPRESSED file -- did that problem occur even after doing the $ SET FILE/ATTR command recommended on the download page?
With respect to the problem with the .EXE file -- maybe something similar to the .PCSI$COMPRESSED recommendation is required (sometimes).
With respect to why both a .PCSI$COMPRESSED and a .EXE format -- some browser (I don't recall which, and don't recall the exact details, but something along the lines of...) was "taking liberties" with whichever format we originally tried using on one of the two platforms.
As a result, the kit is posted in two formats (not two kits: both formats contain exactly the same software).
