Rlogin ucx device without process ?
1. Why isn't the process id mentioned in the bg device ?
2. Why are the counters of bytes send/rec not increased (while I show output I would expect traffic) ?
VMS 7.3 with TCP 5.3 eco 2.

Re: Rlogin ucx device without process ?
These BG devices are quite often part of a driver stack; there's some other device (eg: a TN device) that's the point of I/O contact for the particular network activity. Find out if and what device the rlogin is operating with, and see if that is logging traffic.
As for why BGDRIVER doesn't account for stuff, you'd have to ask the HP TCP/IP Services team. If I were guessing here, it's because the upper-level driver(s) connected here are using the ALTSTART and bypassing the usual sorts of counters in the lower-level drivers. Whether or not this is intentional and appropriate is up to the team to determine.

Re: Rlogin ucx device without process ?
For telnet the counters are even zero !
And the counters are visible on the source node. So, only the destination node shows nothing.

Re: Rlogin ucx device without process ?
I assume this problem is related to the "alias" problem...... and I'm trying to fathom what you are trying to do!
In this case I would ask ... would RSH or adding a second ethernet to node A solve the problem.... TEll me more.

Re: Rlogin ucx device without process ?
Another thing we could use it for is to move sybase servers (with their alias) around without modifying our worldwide clients.
BTW : we don't use DNS.
