Source in accounting
Hi All,
Is there any way I can add the source of the failiure for one particular failed login.
In accounting utility we do have the source field but its not displaying the source of the failed login attempt...
Date / Time Type Subtype Username ID Source Status
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
12-DEC-2004 17:40:05 LOGFAIL SDA 00196767 0001C00A
12-DEC-2004 17:40:05 LOGFAIL SDA 00196568 0001C00A
12-DEC-2004 17:40:06 LOGFAIL SDA 00195069 0001C00A
12-DEC-2004 17:40:06 LOGFAIL SDA 00188D6A 0001C00A
Is there any other way I can find out the source of this particular failed atttempt.
Thanx

Re: Source in accounting
It might be a detached process - then it does not have a source. I would check the audit log as well - sometimes this amends the accounting.

Re: Source in accounting
Do "show intr" to find it. But this info disappears after some time.
You could do a show intrussion every minute and write it to a log file that you can consult afterwards.
Also check audit, but here the origin is not always clear.

Re: Source in accounting
Himanshu,
In the records you've displayed the source field appears to be blank (though wrapping makes it a bit difficult to say for sure). Try
$ ACCOUNT/FULL/TYPE=LOGFAIL accountng
This may give you additional fields, like "Remote ID" and "Remote full name".
If you have log fail auditing enabled, you should be able to find the same event in the journal file:
$ ANALYZE/AUDIT/EVENT=LOGFAIL/FULL journal
If auditing is not enabled, perhaps enable it for next time?
$ SET AUDIT/AUDIT/ENABLE=LOGFAIL=ALL
