Swish-E Knowledge Required

I've been looking for a method of searching PDF files, and is a topic I've raised on these groups before.

I think Swish-E is perhaps an answer to my problem, but I'd like to confirm this with someone already using it on VMS.

Ideally, I'd like to know :-

- roughly how it works
- what technologies it uses, i.e. Perl/Apache
- how easy it is to install and configure
- can it index/search PDF files

Any help would be appreciated.

there is also ht://Dig, ported to OpenVMS Alpha by Martin Vorlaender:

It can also index PDF and DOC files
