Actually I did install remove, copy the old image in to place then install add and then I stopped and restarted TCP/IP.

I know this work around works, I have
done it many times. You are going to have to
take my points away if I am wrong here :).

Did you check with SDA that whatever
image is giving you grief (like TCPIP$FTP_CLIENT)
is picking up the older version of BOTH
TCPIP$IPC_SHR.EXE and UCX$IPC_SHARE.EXE?

(I wish I knew why both shareable images
are always present, one of life's mysteries).

Anyway - escalate for the real fix.

Whoops. Many apologies Stephen, I thought that was TCPIP *or* UCX not *and*. I had no idea that there was a TCPIP and a UCX image.

Anyway, now I've done what you suggested (properly), host lookup works! Hooray! Thank you.

(Slight error in your most recent posting above you typed SHARE in the UCX image name and it should be shr).

I installed ECO 6 in August, so that one can't have been dated October. I've wasted enough time with this so I'm not going to be one of the first to try the 'new' ECO 6.

If you can spot all the differences between 'ECO 6' and 'ECO 6' you could win a free Integrity Server.

Re-releasing ECOs with the SAME NAME and different contents is ABSOLUTELY against OpenVMS ECO principles and should NEVER be done !!!

I unpacked the kit and could see the difference.

I also unpacked the kit and could see NO difference. Everyone using V54 should be at ECO6 in my opinion. Except for this little nit (those installations that don't use DNS) it is looking like a good release.

I have unpacked the current ECO6 kit and it IS the same as the one downloaded earlier. I must have made a mistake. I don't know why the date changed.

I hope they are going to issue an updated version of this kit with the fixed images (and a new name).

I have just downloaded the ECO6 patch again and can find NO changes. The checksum of the patch is exactly the same as my previous download so must be exactly the same. Where is this new ECO6 patch?

You should be able to get it from Digital^h^h^h^h^h^h^hCompaq^h^h^h^h^h^hHP, alternatively wait for ECO 7 I suppose.

I had a similiar problem and have recieved a customized pathc from VMS L2 support. I have yet to test it at my customer site.
