UCX Log Option

UCX Log Option

Hi ,

I am trying to enable the option in UCX with the following command -

$ ucx set service telnet/log=(file=sys$manager:aaa.log)

It is not returning any error. But when I am checking it ( ucx show service telnet / fu ), it is showing -

Log Opt: Actv Dactv Conn Error etc
file: not defined

Ucx version is 4.2

Please Advise

Re: UCX Log Option

Add /perm to the show command.
You need to disable / enable the service before it is active.
Be aware : this will disconnect all sessions.

Re: UCX Log Option

/PERM is a qualifer for SHOW SERVICE. It shows what settings you will get after you restart.

Re: UCX Log Option

It works for service ftp.
The program must think that it has no use for telnet and thus ignores the option.

Re: UCX Log Option

Could any one tel me about the following -

UCX> show dev bg1396/fu
Device_socket: bg1396 Type: STREAM LOCAL REMOTE
Port: 23 1216
Host: TGDV12 THDV42
Service: TELNET Terminal: TNA1:

QLEN 0 Socket buffer quota 3000 3000
QLIMIT 0 Total buffer alloc 0 1828
TIMEO 0 Total buffer limit 12000 12000
ERROR 0 Number of XONs 0 0
OOBMARK 0 Number of XOFFs 0 0
I/O completed 243 386
Bytes transferred 390 13575

Options: REUSEADR KEEP OOBINLINE
State: ISCONNECTED PRIV
RCV Buff: WAIT
SND Buff: SEL

What is the meaning of the bottom section -

Options: REUSEADR KEEP OOBINLINE
State: ISCONNECTED PRIV
RCV Buff: WAIT
SND Buff: SEL
i.e. -> Option: keep or Option: REUSEADR or RCV Buff: WAIT etc ..

Could any one provide me any document explaing this all for UCX 4.2.

Thanks.

Re: UCX Log Option

Options: REUSEADR KEEP OOBINLINE

oobinline indicates Out Of Band (exception handling)
keep stands for keepalive
reuseadr indicates that bind may reuse local information instead of rebinding

State: ISCONNECTED PRIV

isconnected is what it says
priv is ???

RCV Buff: WAIT
SND Buff: SEL

??? Google ???

Re: UCX Log Option

Mainak,

UCX 4.x is a bit faded in my memory, but ISTR that it behaved a lot like TCPIP services.
The syntax of things IP has always been a little (too much in my opinion) non-VMSsy, but Unixian.
Instead of /PERM it is:
$ TCPIP CONFIG SET whatever is to be set
for the PERMANENT info. And yeah, it needs a restart.

hth

Proost.

Have one on me.
