unexpected increment for evtlog.bak

We use HP NetServer LC 3 as our Novell Netware 5.X server.Recently we encountered a strange situation that the file HPSERVER\evtlog.bak under SYS volume unnormally increase to big size(close to 400MB) and used up almost all the free space in SYS volume. The file couldn't be removed or modified unless we rebooted server. We noticed that the system seems automatically backup file evtlog.dat which is in the same folder and append to file evtlog.bak, but the frequency is not regular. So the file evtlog.bak is increasing 25KB each time(the fixed size of evtlog.dat) and using up free space in SYS volume.Kindly please anyone can indicate the solution or hint to survey.

Re: unexpected increment for evtlog.bak

I have the impression that this has nothing to do with VMS, right?
Maybe in a more appropriate forum or newsgroup You get a better answer...

Re: unexpected increment for evtlog.bak

Thanks Joseph for the reply. Can you indicate me any possibility for problematic evtlog.dat/evtlog.bak under HPSERVER folder of HP server(even the OS is not HP-UX or openVMS)?

Re: unexpected increment for evtlog.bak

Maybe the Servers/Netserver forum is better suited :

That said, it seems that your eventlog is filling up with (perhaps) errormessages. Have you had a look into those messages?

Thanks Karl for the forums link.I want to see what's inside the event log too but it's hexadecimal and unreadable. Please refer attachment if you have interest in this.
