Re: Windows XP - Share

Hello Stefan,

when these two Pathworks versions were current Windows XP was not even on the horizon. If you do need to support XP, you will also need to upgrade Pathworks (or Advanced Server as it is known nowadays). The current version is 7.3A ECO 2 if I am not mistaken. You will not be able to upgrade directly from your current versions. Check a recent thread here
http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=447047
for a more detailed discussion of the upgrade
issues.

Hello Stefan,
I tryed with V7.2 without success.
You need V7.3 because windows xp uses cripted passwords (with kerberos) that's not supported by pathwork before V7.3;
A my customer is using ftp to exchange data with openVMS.

Re: Windows XP - Share

Please note, that an upgrade to a current version of Advanced Server will require a purchase of new licenses or a valid upgrade contract.
Perhaps you could use NFS as an alternative.
The SFU Kit from Microsoft is freely available (Services for Unix).

Another (free) alternative is Samba. There is a giood working version for VMS, I don't now the exact version. I beleieve it supports XP as well.

Re: Windows XP - Share

Samba 2.2.8 can be found at:

http://www.pi-net.dyndns.org/anonymous/jyc

it works fine with Windows XP, at least unter VMS 7.3-1/TCPIP 5.3
