8230e cdwriter help
new cdwriter after installed error message Director error - script error. Contact hp support via longdistance phone. After trying several things, and being put on hold several times told bad cdwriter. returned to store for new one. installed over the phone with hpsupport (not through start - run) Again appears to be installed but same error message if I click on cdwriter. If I click on recordnow or dla they open but if you attempt anything it says device not ready. Also the door cannot be opened, except occassionally when the system is first being turned on, or if it is disconnect from the system & reconnected. Completely frustrated. Please help.

Re: 8230e cdwriter help
In device manager Universal Serial Bus 3 devices: USB Root Hub; HP USB CD Writer plus; and Intel 82371AB/EB PCI to USB Universal Host Controller.
In device manager cdrom I have: HP CDWriter + 8200f and TEAC CD-532-E-B
My cdwriter is on drive D and cdrom is on M.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling both while on the phone with HP Support walking me through it. Per HP Support I only did setup for recordnow and dla.
I did ran and update per HP instructions.
Specific problem: when i go into programs - recordnow and click make music I get the following error "your device does not support writing to cd media this option is not available with your current reader" When I go into make a data disc or make an exact copy I get the following message: "no comptible recordable or rewritable devices could be found on your system"
In programs- hewlett Packard - HP CDWriter I get a box that has tabs for create, contact and help with an error box over it that has a header: "director player error" and inside: "script error. Continue? yes no" it only allows no.
I have also tried returning the first cdwriter to the store and exchanging it.
I have also tried saving a document to the disc by doing a save as and trying to open drive d. It says it is not accessible.
Thank you for replying and I appreciate any help you can give me in getting my cdwriter running. Donna

Re: 8230e cdwriter help
In case you don't have this HP Toll free support no is
1-800-633-3600
Can you try one thing. Seems ike you have a scanner on the USB Port and the CD-writer is also on the USB port. Can you use the CD-writer on the port where the scanner is connected and see if it helps. when you right click on the My compuet --> Selct properties --> Device Manager --> Do you see a question mark on any of the deivces configured. you can expand the Various categories by clicking on the "+" sign before that category.
Hope this helps.
Thanks

Re: 8230e cdwriter help
You should perform several steps that i will enumerate bellow:
1 Step: Uninstall ALL HP Software, from the Cd- Writer and the Scanner.
2 Step:Then go to device manager, and remove all the USB lines,HP CD WRITER, Intel 83271 ab/eb, Root Hub, and if there?s any usb line refered with scanner delete it also.
3 Step:Disconnect the USB cable from the Cd-
Writer and the Scanner.
4 Step: search for the following files that are allocated in "C:windows\system\iosubsys" and delete them.
"HPIOSATA.pdr,HPUATA.SYS,EUIOSMSD.PDR"
5 Step:Install only Record Now that you Downloaded from the NET. Then go to the following URL; "http://www.hotburn.net/prassi/support_pxengine.htm" and Download the file with the Version: 1.0.188 and File size: 455kb.
Install this patch and check if everthing it?s ok.
I hope that solve?s the issue,please send a feedback.
Thanks.
