9300i CD-writer problems

I just got a 9300i cd-writer and i know i hooked it up correctly on my ibm aptiva 2158-254. It copies data fine but when i go to copy music cds from mp3s it gives me a write speed error when i use a write speed any higher than 4x. The error message reads as follows:
#######
Response: -10 - Disc Write Error - Command:E1 Sense:03 ASC:0C ASCQ:08

The CD-R or CD-RW disc may be scratched, damaged, or dirty
If the CD-R or CD-RW disc is scratched, damaged, or dirty, your HP CD-Writer may not be able to write data or audio to it.
########
If anyone knows how i can get the cd writer to its potential of 10x not 4x please let me know.

Re: 9300i CD-writer problems

Hi Derek, I have the 9300i and it has worked fine for 4 years, but now suddenly it stops in the middle of a copy with a write error. Something about a high speed disk. I have been using the same disks for the last four years with no problem. If you have found a solution please post it. Thank you.
