CD Writer 9100b error message

I can't seem to record anything to any CD's with any software that I try to use. I've tried Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum and HP's RecordNow software (the latest download from their site).

With that software I don't even get to the recording phase. After I select the files I want to record I get the following error message - Run time error 11, division by zero. After I click OK on that I get an illegal operation on MyCD.

With the Easy CD Creator I get to the recording phase and it zips through to 100% in about 2 seconds, having not recorded anything, and either hangs there or gives me an error message (can't remember what it is).

I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling both progs. I've also done all of the basic suggestions from HP to prep my PC for recording CD's (kill running progs, uncheck DMA on cd writer, scandisk/defrag, etc.) and nothing works. I even went ahead and tried the old HP CD-Writer software that came with my drive and that did the same thing as the newer RecordNow. Anyone got any ideas on how to fix this???

Re: CD Writer 9100b error message

Jon,

Is this a new problem? Has your CD-writer worked before and you just started failing or did you just install it? What OS are you running? 98, 2000, XP? Are you trying to copy CD's or just writing data from your hard drive?

First of all scandisk and defrag will never resolve errors like you mentioned.. You need to give us the exact error message with quotes to help us help you.
