DLA cannot read DirectCD CDs

I am having a problem reading DirectCD-created CDs on a new system that uses DLA.

These DirectCD-created CDs were turned into "standard" CD-R disks using the EasyCD Creator software. Now when these CDs are put into a normal CD ROM (non-burner) on the DLA-enabled computer, they cannot be read. I need DLA on this new computer, because all the new CDs we are getting have been burnt using DLA (and then turned into "normal" CD-R CDs).

This seems crazy to me. I thought that once these DirectCD and DLA created CDs were turned into "normal" CDs, that any computer could read them on their CD-ROM drives.

So basically, I just need to be able to use a single computer with a CD-ROM drive and be able to read CDs created with either DirectCD or DLA (both having been made into "normal" CDs).

Re: DLA cannot read DirectCD CDs

DLA and Direct CD uses two different packet cd systems when they are created. Even if you close the cd, it is not shure that all units can read the disc. You actually could try to download UFD Reader utility from hp.com and see if it solves your problems.

Mike,
DirectCD is Adaptec's software that allows you to use a CD-R as if it were a sort of "super floppy disk". The file system is NOT the same as typical CD's and I have never found a method of accessing these disks except via the DirectCD software.
